Gone Batty: Simple Fair Isle Wristwarmers


Size:
Women’s medium

Materials:
Size 4 (3.5mm) needles
Size 3 (3.25mm) needles

Main Color: 1 skein light worsted or sport weight yarn, gray
Contrasting Color: 1 skein light worsted or sport weight yarn, black

Tapestry needle

Gauge: 23 sts and 30 rows = 4” in stockinette using smaller needles

Pattern notes
Ribbing is 1k, 1p repeated.
Bat border is done in St st beginning with a RS row.
This pattern can be done in the round, simply omit the first and last st of every row (42 sts) to allow the border to be continuous.


DIRECTIONS

With larger needles and MC, CO 44 sts. Work 1x1 ribbing for 4 rows.

Next row (RS): Join CC. Switch to smaller needles and work the 16 rows of Bat Border pattern.

Switch back to larger needles and work 18 rows of ribbing in MC.

BO loosely in pattern.

Bat Border
Night has fallen on this traditional pattern.

Finishing

Break yarn. Block to even out sts in pattern.

Weave in ends. Sew sides together 1 st in on either side. Make sure the pattern lines up to be continuous around the cuff.
