Finished Pieces

I have still been knitting recently, just at a very slow pace. And, finally, I’ve got something new to post.

Let me introduce you to my latest creation, the shoe rug! It aims to please with all its cabled, moss-stitchy goodness. OK, it’s not that exciting, but what else is there to do with cheap bulk acrylic yarn? That stuff is Astro-Turf, I tells ya!

Also not long ago I tackled something that had been nagging me for some time: gloves WITH FINGERS (or, at least, finger holes). For some reason I’ve avoided attempting any existing patterns for them, but all of those hand tubes (a.k.a. “fingerless gloves”) I’ve made have left an empty, unsatisfied feeling.

So I gathered some DPNs and stash yarn and dove right into creating my own custom gloves, eyeballing the pattern as I went along. Luckily they turned out to be a lot easier than I had anticipated, and after a few modifications I came up with a solid, basic, and fitted pattern.

I stopped short of knitting any length of fingers this time, but it will be an easy addition on future pairs. I added crochet edgings and a little black widow hourglass for kicks. True fingerless gloves at last!
