Quickly, before my hand cramps up let me just gush a bit... Jennifer Hansen, I love you. Stitch Diva Studios, you rock. Yet another awesome pattern. I'm so glad for crochet geniuses like Jennifer who make beautiful and sexy crochet patterns for those of us who despise boxy sweaters that could stand up on their own.
Please, adore the broomstick lace bodice and ribbed waistline. Oh, and Jennifer, forgive me for (yet again) modifying a pattern. Don't feel bad, it do it to almost every pattern I get my hands on... I decided to nix the raised collar (which I'm still debating with myself if I should go ahead and add it on anyway) and lengthened the ribbing portion of the waistline. Like most clothing projects I probably will go back and tweak with it after wearing it for awhile- once I see how it looks and feels throughout a normal day.
Okay- on to my second project of the weekend... My dearest grandmama mentioned to my mother that a sweet old woman in her complex had been handing out tea cozies to new arrivals to make them feel at home. Sadly, the woman passed away after giving my grandmother a tea cozy and now there was no one to be the tea-cozy-welcoming-committee. Knowing what a generous and friendly woman my grandmother is I wanted to help her out a bit so I crocheted up a few tea cozies that she could hand out to people in her community.
Very basic, and based solely on the sketched dimensions (and my grandmother's own gifted tea cozy) I whipped these up using some spare yarn. I think they turned out pretty damn well for a one day project. I hope these make for good gifts to the new arrivals, and perhaps they will even help spark some new friendships. A girl can hope, anyway.
