THE AMAZING SIX-MONTH SWEATER!

Boy oh boy! I recently went through my blog for the last year or so and realized this has become somewhat of an online brag book more than a blog… Oh well… I’m convinced that other than a smattering of loyal friends (okay some of them also happen to be relatives) no one is much interested in reading about the trials and tribulations of my artsy-obsessive creations.

As for myself I do enjoy being able to look back at some of the things I’ve created even if my writing has become practically non-existent. Well, don’t expect anything to change any time soon because I’m only here to throw a few more pictures up on the web so I can get back to my divot in the couch and keep crocheting.

Only one little thing to share. One little thing that I’ve been working on for six months… or more. This sweater (Copenhagen) has been giving me the evil eye from my work “basket” for eons, it seems. Since last winter (okay- so maybe it’s been a YEAR in the making, not 6 months) I’ve been putting in a few grudging rows here and there, but I just wasn’t feeling it. I wasn’t feeling it until it started getting down into the teens at night and my usual rotation of sweaters was not cutting it in the cold. Yeah, now I was feeling it. Feeling it like the icy hand of frostbite smacking me across the face!

Needless to say I picked up my hook, buried myself in blankets and crocheted like a possessed woman until the damn thing came together. FINALLY!

So, I do love this sweater. Even if the outside temperature is mocking me and now that I have put in the last stitch its forty degrees and raining. Ah, the joys of Seattle.

Still, it’s a beautiful sweater and oh so warm!

I did learn one thing in this endeavor. My crocheting is short. For some reason every time I do dc or trc it never ends up quite as tall as the pattern calls for. Especially when I’m doing cables. Wish I would have realized this when I was doing the body panels because the sweater only hits at my natural waist, so it looks a bit cropped on me, not that I mind all that much. Luckily I did realize it early enough to extend the arms! I actually had to repeat rows 37-42 TWICE and add a few rows of sc at the end of the cuff to make it fit my monkey arms. C’est la vie!

Anyhoo… that’s all I’ve got for now. At least in a couple weeks I’ll have more stuff to plaster up here as I’ll finally be able to share some of my hand-made X-mas gifts and most likely a few more odd-ball projects that are always in the works.
